This gorgeous lacquer box has been hand-painted in the Art Nouveau style. This style was inspired by Alphonse Mucha. His work frequently featured beautiful women in flowery neoclassic looking robes, often surrounded by lush flowers, which sometimes formed halos behind the women's heads. Nights Rest from The Times of the Day Series is one of the best examples of  Mucha’s vision of beauty. Russian artist painted reproduction of Nights Rest on the mother of pearl. The shimmer of the shell and attractive handpainted picture make this lacquer box unique and desirable. The box is hand made of paper-mâché, several layers of clear lacquer protect the painting. Signed by the artist and made in the village of Fedoskino.
